Job Title: Postdoctoral Scholar Research

Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $47,659 - $61,572 annually 

Job Summary:

This postdoctoral position is open immediately in Dr. Laura Blair’s lab.

Our lab has begun to show that many molecular chaperones are key regulators of protein aggregation and toxicity. There are approximately 150 chaperones in humans, and we speculate that each of these could be a drug target for human diseases. In particular, our lab has focused on a group of more than 15 neurological degenerative diseases collectively termed “tauopathies”, the most common being Alzheimer’s disease. Our lab is involved in drug development and target validation for the chaperone proteins as well as well as investigating how various states of tau alter pathogenesis. We are looking for an ambitious post-doctoral candidate. Skill sets that we are particularly interested in are: 1) molecular chaperone biology, 2) tau biology, and 3) neurobiology.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or MD. Ph.D. in a related field from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with murine studies (treatment, behavior, brain tissue processing) and cell biology experiments.
• Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biological or Biomedical Sciences and a strong background in experimental neurobiology.

• A successful applicant must be dedicated, responsible, detail-oriented, well organized, efficient, and communicate clearly with other postdocs, graduate students, and research technicians.
• Position also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, practiced documentation skills, and ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in a professional manner.
• Ability to work independently and as a team, set priorities and manage time effectively despite unanticipated interruptions. Willingness to adjust to changes in the workload and change focus as needed.
