Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $50,000/year
DUTIES:
Collaborates on ongoing research projects; Performs experiments using live mice, human cadaveric tissue, mammalian cell and tissue culture in vitro, radioisotope labeling, electrophoresis of protein and nucleotide samples, microscopy and other modes of imaging, flow analysis and other immunological methods, bacterial transformation and growth, sequencing and modification of nucleic acids; Performs statistical and other analyses on data
Conceptualizes, designs and conducts an independent research project under faculty supervision; Writes, submits, and modifies Institutional Review Board (IRB) study protocols; Performs study outreach and recruitment to meet project goals; Obtains informed consent from potential study participants; Performs data collection using standardized research protocols; Coordinates research study visits and oversees data collection; Ensures study protocols are followed to ensure compliance. Meets with supervising faculty to review study progress, timeline, and findings. Prepares briefings of results and works closely with supervising faculty during interpretation of study results.
Develops, edits, and updates standardized laboratory documents including IRB protocols, study codebooks, data collection templates, participant forms and reporting templates. Assists with preparing reports and other documents for publication and dissemination to stakeholders and journals.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
Prospective applicants must have obtained a PhD in biology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, chemistry or other related field at the time of appointment. Prospective applicants also must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.
Preferred Qualifications:
Research experience in microbiology
