Job Summary
To plan and assist in the coordination of the business management, administrative and staff services of a large and complex department of thirty (30) faculty, fifteen (15) full time staff, sixty (60) graduate students, and twenty (20) postdoctoral researchers. Responsible for coordinating administrative tasks associated with promotion and tenure, academic planning, and accreditation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the administrative operations of the Physics Department.
  • Coordinates new or existing departmental projects or programs and identifies sources of funds.
  • Prepares analysis or reports as required for projects or programs.
  • Prepares budgets and monitors expenditures.
  • Conduct cost studies and oversees preparation of various administrative issues.
  • Prepares statistical reports. Assists in speech and report preparation in response to official inquiries.
  • Provides assistance in negotiation, administration and termination of contracts and grants.
  • Maintains contact and liaison with other University offices or external agencies in connection with grant and research activities.
  • Coordinate special projects for the department.
  • Will supervise two (2) or more full-time employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • Four (4) of experience in administration or business management including at least two (2) years as the administrative assistant level or the equivalent experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
