Online Operations at UCCS provides integrated support services to prospective online students through Enrollment Navigation, with initiatives focused on driving enrollment growth, improving retention and completion rates, and building relationships with applicants to a variety of fully online undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.  

The Senior Enrollment Navigator will be primarily focused on engaging with prospective students in two-way conversations and providing information, support, and guidance as prospective students explore the educational opportunities available to them. These positions provide recruitment services while collaborating with a variety of campus offices and area partners to provide a seamless and connected prospect and applicant experience.  Thus, the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of online learning, advising practices, recruitment and admission procedures, financial aid and student billing operations, and career development tactics and strategies.

Job Duties:

  • Provide proactive, personalized, and integrated engagement to prospective students, primarily through phone and digital outreach, in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on connecting potential students to appropriate academic and student support resources.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge base of all academic departments and pertinent student service units and articulate this information to prospective students.
  • Partner with staff of various departments to resolve prospect and applicant concerns and ensure successful matriculation to the University.
  • Recruit, follow-up, and facilitate admission for students, from initial inquiry through enrollment.
  • Help students understand their estimated cost of attendance and financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
  • Develop an ongoing relationship and work cooperatively with The Academic Advising Office, Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, the Bursar’s Office, and other campus constituents to ensure a smooth transition for prospective students into the University.
  • Prepare students to maximize their ability to successfully complete and engage in online courses.
  • Identify prospective students with barriers to entry and recommend timely and effective interventions.
  • Inform prospective students of the learning and technical skills and resources needed to succeed in online coursework.
  • Guide applicants to select degree programs that align with their career and academic goals and engage in conversations related to ideal fit.
  • Connect applicants to training and resources that show them the career opportunities available for their degree selection.
  • Assist admitted students with understanding the process of enrolling in courses.

Job Competencies:

  • Knowledge of admissions, recruitment, advising, career development and financial aid practices in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of the sales cycle and ability to meet designated enrollment targets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships with key campus student services.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to set and meet goals and deadlines, manage appointments, create schedules, coordinate and facilitate meetings, and make decisions.

Work Location: On-site

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $44,127 - $56,938 per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by May 30, 2023. However, this posting will remain open until filled.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee will be the week of June 12, 2023.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the weeks of June 19, 2023 and June 26, 2023.
  • The potential employee start date is July 14, 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the qualifications at the time of hire. 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Closely related experience in education, student services, advising, enrollment, educational program coordination or similar may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three (3) years of student services experience within a higher education or higher education affiliate environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, counseling, psychology, social sciences, student affairs, business, learning technologies, or related field is highly desired.
  • Five (5) or more years of student services experience within a higher education or higher education affiliate environment.
  • Experience working in higher education in either admissions, advising, financial aid, or career services preferred.
  • Experience working with online students.
  • Experience working with a customer relationship management (CRM) system, such as Salesforce.
  • Experience working with a call center and/or in a virtual based role.
  • Sales experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.  Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
