Research Assistant Professor (Full-Time, non-tenure)

 

 

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Radiology is recruiting for a full-time Research Assistant Professor, non-tenure, to serve within our PET Research Center supporting radiochemistry and radiopharmaceutical sciences.

Job responsibilities include: 

  • Supporting pre-clinical and clinical research across a varied research portfolio
  • Developing/implementing new radio-synthetic methods for radiopharmaceuticals in support of new investigator-initiated research
  • Operating and maintaining automated radiochemistry synthesis units (GE and ORA)
  • Interpreting radiosynthetic process data results, recognizing aberrant results, formulating rational explanations for results, and implementing appropriate corrective action(s)
  • Writing scientific manuscripts and grant applications
  • Training and management of staff in methods for radiochemistry applications
  • Service center support
  • Supporting other researchers in a group setting
  • Teaching 

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • PhD in Radiochemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry and have completed postdoctoral training by the start of the position
  • Demonstrated research interest in radiochemistry/radiopharmaceutical sciences using positron-emitting radionuclides
  • Experience with automated radiosynthesis platforms (GE and ORA)
  • Previous experience using analytical instrumentation including HPLC, TLC, NMR
  • Experience with LIMS software
  • Ability to multi-task simultaneous projects and effectively manage time   

The successful applicant will be appointed in the Department of Radiology and would carry out research in radiochemistry and radiopharmaceutical sciences.  Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) the development of novel radiotracers and probes for imaging and therapeutic applications including the application of radiosynthetic methodology to basic science and clinical research to studies of the brain, cancer, or cardiology.  The position will report to the Director of the PET Center. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
