Responsibilities*

Undergraduate Recruiting and Outreach (50%)

  • In collaboration with the associate chair for undergraduate education and undergraduate ASO team members, participate in the development of short-term and long-term undergraduate recruiting plans designed to strategically increase the number of ME majors, engage K-12 students in learning about mechanical engineering, use data to assess progress, and collaborate with University and College recruiting offices
  • Coordinate all aspects of undergraduate recruiting initiatives and events, including designing events that are accessible for all participants
  • Coordinate the undergraduate major declaration process, including checking intended majors' prerequisites, leading the declaration orientation event, facilitating introduction of students to advisors who they will work with going forward, executing administrative steps in student declarations.
  • Respond to all questions and requests from prospective undergraduate students; including one-on-one appointments to discuss the major and the possibility/process of declaring
  • Coordinate all aspects of ME's participation in College and University undergraduate recruitment events such as Majors Fair and Campus Day
  • Collaborate with ME's marketing and communications team to develop recruiting materials and marketing strategies; including print orders
  • Collaborate with ME's manager of diversity and inclusion to design and implement inclusive recruiting approaches
  • Develop and maintain undergraduate recruiting content on ME's website
  • Maintain monthly data reporting on ME student demographics
     

Undergraduate Advising and Student Support (40%)

  • Respond to routine requests from prospective and current undergraduate students 
  • Evaluate and approve electronically-submitted undergraduate student degree plans, with support from and referral to undergraduate advisors, as needed
  • Contribute to the creation of equitable, inclusive, and sustainable student support in ME
  • Support generally ME's undergraduate advising program and initiatives, including logistics related to career advising initiatives, ME's transfer student initiative, and overall program evaluation

Administrative Assistance (10%)

  • Engage in continuous evaluation of the role's administrative practices for unintended barriers and/or inequality. Research and suggest innovative practices to replace old ones.
  • Support ASO's in-person office functions, including regular weekly office coverage and community events
  • Assist with other administrative tasks and projects, as directed

 

 



 

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree or four years of student services experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



 

Desired Qualifications*

Previous experience in a student services role

Work Schedule

This position may be eligible for a flex or hybrid remote work schedule.

Additional Information

Term-limited and seasonal position: mid-July through mid-May in the first year, and mid-August through mid-May (2025) in the second year.

 

The pay range reflects a year-round, full-time position.  The actual income will be pro-rated based on 9-10 months of effort for this seasonal appointment mid-July (or mid-August for second year) through mid-May.

This position reports administratively and functionally to the student services manager with occasional functional supervision by other team members on specific projects.



 

Background Screening
