The Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition is a nonprofit research institute providing expertise in measurement and evaluation to help develop, enhance, and expand programs focused on healthy eating and active living, improving food security and healthy food access, promoting local food systems, and applying a health equity lens in all we do. Job Summary
The person hired for this specific opening will serve as the Research Associate for Technology and Communications for GSCN’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) projects. This Research Associate position will support the WIC team at the Gretchen Swanson Center with technical assistance support and resource development utilizing their expertise with communications, technology, graphic design, and technical writing. The Research Associate will support translating research insights into visual tools and technical assistance for diverse WIC audiences.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with all project aspects of communications and technology, incorporating input from internal and external project partners.
  • Support both proactive and reactive technical assistance for the WIC community (e.g., WIC agencies and partners).
  • Develop technical assistance materials and resources based on project learnings, integrating team members’ recommendations/edits, and coordinating content with partners on special projects (e.g., new resources).
  • Assist with regular reviews, development, utilization, and updates of the project website and technical assistance resources, in collaboration with the Gretchen Swanson Center marketing team, WIC team members, external partners, and technology vendors.
  • Assist with scheduling, developing and disseminating meeting agendas, facilitating meetings, taking notes, overseeing action items, and contributing to relevant internal and external meetings.
  • Assist with the planning, content development, execution, and evaluation of virtual and in-person meetings, webinars, Q&A sessions, conferences, and convenings involving multiple organizations.
  • Support content development for project listserv.
  • Provide Spanish translations as needed for technical assistance support.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; extensive experience collaborating and communicating with teams, external partners, clients, vendors, and funders.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, web/digital design, and/or technical writing.
  • At least one year of experience in a technical assistance or other project support role.
  • Experience planning in-person and virtual meetings, webinars, conferences, and convenings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; skilled at technical writing and graphic design.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with remote team members.
  • Experience with 508 compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom), publishing and design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.

  • Maintain a productive, comfortable, and distraction-free remote work environment.
  • Comply with the GSCN work schedule.
  • Follow care and security standards for GSCN-issued equipment.
  • Supply your own Internet connection which allows for seamless communication for video conferencing.

Job Type
This is a full-time, remote position.

Travel
This position will include travel for client visits, conference attendance, staff retreats and meetings, and other promotional or networking activities.

Pay: $53,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
