Job Title
Human Resources Generalist - NBU

Job Function
With a focus on promoting a positive client-centered Human Resources division and organizational culture, the HR (Human Resources) Generalist will independently coordinate, plan, and prioritize tasks according to time constraints and deadlines. Coordinates and implements the procedural processes, programs and necessary reports designed to facilitate the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of new faculty and adjunct employees. Collaborates on the development and implementation of systems and procedures related to faculty and adjunct employment documentation and assignment contracts. Monitoring of collective bargaining agreements related to recruitment, hiring and payment of faculty.

Job Responsibilities
LABOR EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
  • Provide guidance on HR policy, procedure and collective bargaining agreements
  • Participates in collective bargaining with faculty and adjunct faculty bargaining units
  • Serves as an advisor for the negotiation team for various other bargaining units
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Labor and Employee Relations to resolve employee issues
  • Work in collaboration with administrators on special projects and HR initiatives
  • Lead the development and documentation of personnel procedures related to faculty employment and assignment contracts

PAYROLL AND COMPENSATION
  • Provide support and recommendations in the revision, development and implementation of Payroll and Compensation procedures
  • Responsible for initiation, development and processing employee payroll information as received from the various college departments for the Faculty Load reports (RFALs)
  • Perform and establish departmental procedures for audit functions related to implementation of faculty workload and faculty contract salary provisions
  • Communicate with cost center supervisors and administrators to troubleshoot workload, salary and other personnel issues relating to faculty
  • Act as the HR liaison with academic unit personnel, payroll, or others as assigned
  • Analyze and understand complex payroll records, summarize data and prepare reports in appropriate formats

TRAINING LEARNING DEVELOPMENT
  • Provide individual and group training sessions to administrators, supervisors and clerical staff as it relates to HR procedures and the RFAL process
  • Assist the Office of the Provost with properly maintaining faculty and adjunct records and seniority list
 

RECRUITING
 SELECTION
  • Assist with adjunct faculty job recruitment and work with departments to address hiring needs
  • Support and implement end-to-end hiring processes to ensure a positive experience for candidates and department
  • Establish contact with applicants, staff, instructors and external agencies to facilitate employee hirings
  • Prepare salary determinations as assigned
  • Serve on committees and represent the department as assigned
  • Perform related duties as assigned
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Labor and Employee Relations and the Vice President of Human Resources. Takes direction from other departmental administrators.
SUPERVISION GIVEN: May provide direction to part–time staff and oversight of projects as assigned.
 

Education
Associate Degree from an accredited institution is required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field is preferred.

Preliminary Qualifications
Three – five years’ related experience required, including knowledge of computer software and operating systems. One year of experience in a Human Resources environment is preferred. Two years of experience in a higher education/union environment is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must demonstrate good organizational skills and project follow-up; have demonstrated ability to; must be proficient with Microsoft Office suites. Departmental software such as Colleague, People Admin, Business Intelligence and ImageNow is preferred; must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use spreadsheet and word processing software applications; must be detail oriented, demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and conscientiousness in addressing work related problems and have effective communication skills (written and verbal) and strong analytical skills.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Work is performed in a typical office environment. Ability to travel between buildings and campuses to support staff. Work hours vary including evenings and weekends.
 

The department has a remote work policy which includes days on campus and off campus.

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

$56,218 through $68,753
