Summary

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor will be responsible for all recruiting activities in an assigned territory, including school visits, college fairs, and on-campus events, and communication with students and parents.

You will also manage the Office of Undergraduate Admissions' partnerships with external partners, such as non-profit foundations and college access organizations.

Responsibilities*

  • Represent UM-Flint at college fairs, school visits, and community and alumni functions. Coordinate visitation and travel to high-volume/high yielding high schools and community colleges. Exercise discretion in developing a travel schedule, within an assigned territory, to meet the University's enrollment goals.
  • Communicate with prospective students, parents, school officials, and other partners in an assigned, high-value recruiting territory.
  • Build relationships with schools in an assigned territory to increase application volume and yield. Prepare and deliver presentations to prospective students, parents, and other partners.
  • Advise students and parents on the admissions process, educational opportunities, and academic requirements at UM-Flint. Interpret university admissions policies.
  • With the Associate Director of Admissions, lead the onboarding of new hires and develop and implement ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Manage the Office of Undergraduate Admissions' partnerships with important external partners, such as non-profit foundations and college access organizations.
  • Provide liaison services to other UM-Flint offices including Financial Aid, Housing & Residential Life, the Student Success Center, and the university's schools and colleges. Represent UM-Flint's Office of Undergraduate Admissions at professional meetings and regional workshops.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Two or more years of experience in college admissions or recruitment.

Experience managing partnerships with external organizations.

May require working during non-business hours and on weekends. This position may require overnight travel.

Work Schedule

A consistent hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based on the responsibilities of the position and the needs of the department.
