Postdoctoral Fellow- Robotics Institute

Job Description


The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Seeking to combine the practical and the theoretical, we have diversified efforts and approaches to robotics science while retaining the original goal of realizing the potential of the robotics field.
Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Postdoctoral Fellow. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment

Job Functions:

  • Conduct research on social navigation in pedestrian, autonomous driving, and aviation problem domains.
  • Design and implement new algorithms, system integration, and various evaluation of the approach including dataset and lab experiments and user studies.
  • Prepare reports and presentation material for sponsored research project meetings; coordinate with internal and external collaborators to lead the project into success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in robotics, machine learning, computer science, EE/ECE, and other related fields; experiences using sensors and real robot platforms

Required Skillsets

  • Strong programming skills, system integration skills, must have strong publication records in robotics related conferences (e.g., ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, ICCV, ICML, HRI),
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice-to-have Skillsets

  • Experience as an organizer for conference, workshops, symposium, or outreach events.
