Purpose

To provide research support in the area of computational engineering, predictive digital twins, design optimization, uncertainty quantification, scientific machine learning, and software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on methodology for predictive digital twins, including probabilistic graphical models, multifidelity methods, scientific machine learning, surrogate modeling, and uncertainty quantification, with application to biomedical and engineering systems.
  • Create and maintain software that implements developed methods.
  • Assist in developing papers for scientific journals, and preparing presentations for conference.
  • Assist with grant writing, and assist with annual reports, progress reports and research reports for research sponsors.
  • Attend conferences and workshops and make presentations as appropriate.
  • Act as central resource and mentor to graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in the Willcox Research Group.


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field with at least two years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience.
  • Experience in developing predictive digital twin methods and applying them in engineering systems.
  • Experience in developing surrogate modeling methods and applying them in engineering systems.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with machine learning methods.
  • Software engineering experience.


Salary Range

$100,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of keyboard around workstation.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including fully remote work, are possible.
