The School for Public Health (SPH) is looking for an experienced recruitment professional to contribute as a high-functioning member of the Recruitment and Admissions team, focusing on residential graduate student recruitment and admissions. Specifically, we are looking for someone who can positively contribute to the expansion of SPH's recruiting and admissions efforts. You will represent both the University of Michigan and our mission to a broad and diverse audience. You will perform responsibly while exercising in all interactions with all internal and external constituencies. We are looking for a thoughtful contributor who is willing to meet prospective students where they are and guide them through the admissions process. You will report to the Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic staff member with a commitment to contributing to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all members of our community.


You will work some evenings and weekends and travel to represent the UM SPH. The majority of travel will take place during the fall semester.

Responsibilities*

  • Student Recruitment:
    • Respond to prospective, admitted, and matriculated student inquiries using multiple channels.
    • Provide one-on-one admissions coaching to diverse populations through in-person and virtual appointments, phone calls, and email.
    • Guide prospective students through the application process. Build relationships with prospective students and track their progress through the recruitment funnel.
    • Participate in and help plan recruitment activities including fairs, classroom presentations, meetings with advisors and influencers, conferences, direct email communications, undergrad student organizations, and programs/webinars.
    • Develop presentations for prospective students that express the distinct advantages of enrollment both at the University of Michigan and SPH.
    • Maintain and oversee web content and assist with social media related to recruitment and admissions. Collaborate with the SPH Webmaster and Marketing and Communications team.
    • Support the Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions by contributing to the formulation and implementation of recruiting strategies and communication plans.
    • Lead the execution of in-person and virtual events such as Prospective and Admitted Student Days and other yield programs.
    • Develop relationships with prospective and admitted students, alumni, current students, and staff to improve communications and create opportunities for recruitment to be infused into other areas within the school.
    • Help with implementing and daily operations of the current student volunteer Admissions Ambassador program.
    • Use SalesForce to track prospective students through application and yield, and produce trend reports and analysis.
  • Admissions
    • Create official communications to applicants throughout the entire recruitment and admissions cycle
    • Track the progression of applicants through all stages of the admissions review process.
    • Contribute to data collection and Admissions Process Initiative efforts.
    • Help with admissions-related data requests.
    • Work with multiple departments and partners within SPH and on the U-M campus (Careers, Alumni Relations, Development, Marketing and Communications, Departments, and Programs) on activities supporting Admissions and Recruitment processes.
    • Collaborate internally with the SPH student services team to provide resources to prospective and admitted students.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience working in higher education, K12 educational organizations, or an equivalent combination of transferable experience (e.g. marketing, recruitment, sales).
  • Demonstrated a high level of intercultural competency.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
