Summary

The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) Office of Admissions and Records (OAR), is seeking a Graduate Recruiting Coordinator to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and execute the recruitment and admissions processes for graduate degree programs.  The individual in this position will coordinate admissions-related strategies with students, faculty, staff and external constituencies; recruit high-quality applicants from diverse populations to degree programs; work collaboratively with school stakeholders to meet enrollment targets; and coordinate the administrative and operational activities for prospective student events for the School of Nursing.

Responsibilities*

  • Promote and market School of Nursing programs to prospective students. Provide highly personalized recruiting services to all applicants. Advise prospective students on admissions processes and academic opportunities. Meet with prospective students to explain School of Nursing and University admissions policies and procedures, and answer questions on academic programs. Develop and deliver presentations about the programs in the School of Nursing to prospective students. Respond to telephone and email inquiries related to admissions policies, procedures, deadlines, and application questions.
  • Develop and implement targeted recruiting strategies (including outreach, events, and marketing messages) based on data and market research. Contribute website and digital marketing content related to admissions and recruiting. 
  • Represent the School of Nursing at national, local, and regional conferences, exhibits, and fairs, as well as other programs and events. Responsible for managing and executing all logistics for events related to graduate student recruitment. Organize materials, maintain records, and submit reports documenting visits and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Track prospective student contacts using the Salesforce CRM. Create and send out regular communications through Marketing Cloud as it relates to events attended, upcoming programs, admissions information.
  • Review applications and render appropriate admission recommendations. Work with members of the admissions committee to ensure applications are reviewed according to committee guidelines. Interact with central university admitting departments, the School of Nursing Committee on Academic Admissions and Scholastic Standing, and faculty as appropriate.
  • Work within the M-Pathways Student Administration System and Business Objects to query data from the University of Michigan databases. Provide reports and statistics on current and historical admissions trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current students, alumni, other staff, and faculty to be able to make effective connections between members of the School of Nursing community and prospective students. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.  Effectively communicate with team members and other offices internal and external to the School.  Ensure seamless processes and provide accurate and timely follow-up with all constituents.  Participate in activities to promote your own continued learning and professional growth. Work to create and maintain an open, safe, and inclusive environment for all students, staff, and faculty.

Supervision is received from the Assistant Director for Recruitment.

Required Qualifications*

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in admissions, recruiting or another related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely using various mediums.
  • Must be able to participate in travel in and out of state and work some evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), and especially Excel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to operate University owned vehicle.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with admissions processes, or University systems within higher education, such as MPathways, Business Objects, and Salesforce CRM.

Additional Information

Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some weekend and/or evening hours are required, along with some overnight travel to recruiting events. Currently, this position has the option to be hybrid; and will be reviewed annually per the university and School of Nursing policy.

Salary:  The target salary range for this position is $52,000-$55,000 per year. The actual salary determined will be based on qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
