Position Summary

Independently performs maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing equipment, structures, piping, and associated systems.

Essential Functions

  • Unstops clogged drains, sewer lines, etc.
  • Repairs and replaces bathroom fixtures, sprinkler fittings, piping (brass, iron, copper, pvc, etc.), valves, traps, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Designs and installs new or reroutes existing copper, brass, or iron piping, valves, and fixtures.
  • Cuts threads for pipes, solder & welds pipe, valves, and fixtures.
  • Repairs and installs iron steam or hot water radiators, pipes, traps, valves, etc.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs hot water heaters, hot water tanks, heaters, and related equipment.
  • Inspects, repairs, and installs fireplugs, sprinkler lines, and sprinkler heads.
  • Supervises inventory of plumbing materials.
  • Assists other trades as needed.
  • Supervises standpipe, sprinkler, and other fire system related tests.
  • Is on callback for emergencies and watch coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years at plumbing craft, with 5 years journeyman or higher equivalent.
  • Relevant trade school or education preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • The candidate shall possess, or must obtain prior to completing their probationary period the following FDNY Certificates of Fitness. Additionally, other certificates of fitness may be required to meet the duties of the position. Certificates must be maintained throughout the course of employment.
    • (F-01) City-wide Fire Guard for Impairment
    • (F-60) Fire Guard for Torch Operations
    • (G-60) Torch Use of Flammable Gasses for Hot Work Operations
    • (E-21) Using Powder Actuated Tools
  • Failure to obtain the required Certificates of Fitness will result in the termination of the employee’s employment.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Minimum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $3,990.40

Maximum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $3,990.40

Minimum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $3,192.00

Maximum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $3,192.00
