Faculty

Description

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus

Department: Departments of Biomedical Informatics & Pediatrics, Section of Endocrinology

Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Bjornstad & Cole Labs

Position #: 00808620 – Requisition #: 29709

Job Summary:

The Cole Lab broadly uses large-scale genomics and other -omics datasets as a tool to explore diet’s relationship with human health and disease, with a focus on cardiometabolic disease. The Cole Lab extends these approaches to a variety of complex traits and collaborations including the genetics of diabetic kidney disease in the GENIE consortium and the utility of polygenic risk scores in clinical trials.

The Bjornstad Research Group is a well-funded (multiple R01s) and innovative team at UC-AMC that investigates and seeks to understand the development of complications (e.g., heart and kidney disease) in obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, among other diseases (e.g., polycystic kidney disease). We aim to understand the causes of complications, and ultimately translate the findings into therapies and preventive strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing and analysis of multi-omics, multi-modal MRI data, including the development and implementation of automated scripts and pipelines
  • Genomic analysis of large-scale biobank data in high performance computing environments, including cloud computing
  • Assistance with preparing NIH progress reports and grants
  • Manuscript development, including as first author
  • Research proposal development
