Job Summary:

The Division of Cardiology is looking for a qualified applicant to Conduct hypothesis-driven research to uncover molecular mechanisms of cardiac and metabolic diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell culture, in vivo models, biochemical assay development and execution
  • Translate basic research findings into early-stage drug discovery programs
  • To become proficient with the use of the high content imaging system and associated liquid handling systems in the Fibrosis Innovation Group (FIG) within the CFReT. This will also involve physical management of the small molecule libraries in the FIG and electronic management of these libraries using the CDD Vault compound management system, or a related system. These FIG-related responsibilities could eventually evolve into a Core activity, which you would manage.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • PhD in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field, and/or an MD degree
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in biochemistry, including protein purification, and molecular and cellular biology. Expertise in microscopy-based phenotypic screening and maintenance of small molecular libraries

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    $70,000 to $78,000 

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
