Research Scientist, Biomechatronics

Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, BIOMECHATRONICS, Media Lab, to conduct research into the design and development of novel wearable robotic and human sensing systems.  Will conduct research on the design and development of novel wearable robotic mechatronic systems and interfaces to skeletal muscle, including magnetic and electric methodologies; design and implement research projects, gathering and analyzing data, designing research protocols, documenting research results, and publishing research outcomes; assist with writing grants and funding proposals and prepare patent documents; and engage with and maintain collaboration between local and international researchers.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in mechanical, biomechanical, or biomedical engineering or a related field; background in experimental or theoretical/computational aspects of wearable robotics and human sensing technologies; detailed understanding of electromagnetic systems and mechatronics as applied to human body sensing and wearable robotics; technical skill with mechatronic system modeling, magnetic modeling, magnetometer sensor technology, and muscle impedance measurements; experience with Python, C++, and MATLAB programming languages; demonstrated mastery of three-dimensional calculus, linear algebra, and mathematical optimization; working knowledge of electronic circuit design; and excellent academic writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED:  experience leading the development of medical device manufacturing processes, and preparing manufacturing and regulatory documents for clinical translation of medical devices.  Job #22612
