Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 3, Sociotechnical Systems Research Center (SSRC)-Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) and Ibn Khaldun (IBK) Fellowship for Saudi Arabian Women, to coordinate of a wide array of activities for CCES and IBK, including communications, assuring timely appointment of affiliate researchers, arranging meetings and workshops, conducting financial review and control, coordinating travel and visa arrangements for MIT personnel traveling to Saudi Arabia, and assuring formal project reports and other program materials are collected in an organized and timely fashion.  Will contribute to program cross-cultural community building; maintain a social media and web presence; and build relationships with stakeholders, including principal investigators and researchers and MIT and KACST and administrative counterparts at KACST. 

CCES and IBK are two MIT programs which share a sponsor, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), based in Riyadh. CCES is multi-year research collaboration between MIT and KACST. IBK is a competitive postdoctoral fellowship for Saudi Arabian women with PhDs in science and engineering. Women selected for the program are supported for one year of postdoc work at MIT at labs across the Institute.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; five years’ experience providing administrative, office, operations, and/or project/program coordination assistance; excellent organizational and process management skills; ability to set priorities and effectively work across boundaries to meet shared goals; proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and cultural sensitivity and interest working with a diverse group of people.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree; relevant professional experience working in higher education with a diverse group of stakeholders; familiarity with the MENA (Middle East/North Africa) region gained through academic or personal experience; Arabic language skills; experience with website updates/maintenance using WordPress or other content management system.  Job #22608-6
