Senior Cost Analyst

Job Description

SENIOR COST ANALYST, Office of the Vice President for Research, to function as a member of a small team of financial professionals responsible for the development, submission, audit support, and negotiation of MIT’s facilities and administrative (F&A), employee benefits (EB), and research vacation accrual (VA) rates.  Will advise senior management, Research Administration Services (RAS), and the MIT community on risk management in relation to federal cost principles, federal regulations, and costing issues; provide decision support through complex financial analysis; and act as MIT’s primary point of contact with its cognizant federal agency, the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and its cognizant federal auditors, the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).  Will also support ad hoc functions and the administration of the Office of Cost Analysis and the Office of the Vice President for Research as necessary.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; six years’ related experience; a background in accounting and/or financial modeling/forecasting; familiarity with federal cost principles and regulations (Uniform Guidance) and the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS); and ability to work independently, juggle multiple priorities under pressure, and foster cooperative partnerships with peers.  PREFERRED:  work experience in an academic/research environment, MBA or CPA, and experience with MIT systems.  Job #22604-10
