The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Department of Leadership, Research, and Foundation s in the College of Education invites applications for a part-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a National Science Foundation AGEP award. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will provide direct service supporting the close-out of a research project on the career development needs of historically underrepresented minority engineering postdoctoral scholars and engineering doctoral post-graduation plans from literature review to study design to large-scale dataset analysis. Travel for dissemination of research findings at conferences and professional and scholarly meetings will also occur.

Job Duties:

Essential Functions

  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Perform multi-level modeling analyses
  • Analyze interview data
  • Develop presentation and publication materials
  • Present at national conferences
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge and interest in efforts to diversify engineering academia
  • Familiarity with the literature on engineering postdoctoral scholar experiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong qualitative data collection and analysis skills OR Strong quantitative analysis skills, up to and including multiple regression analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills

Work Location: Position is expected to be onsite, but remote opportunities will be available in agreement with the department chair.

This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer

Salary:  $16,640 annually at 0.20 FTE. This is a part-time position, working on average one day per week, within the grant-funded timeframe which ends December 31, 2024.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

This position is dependent on the availability of external grant funding. Funding is currently expected to last until 12/31/2024. 

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by April 25, 2023. However, this posting will remain open until filled.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee via HireVue will be the week of April 24, 2023.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be May 1 - 12, 2023.  
  • The potential employee start date is June 1, 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in the fields of education, education policy, research design, evaluation, and statistics, or other related fields
  • A track record of publication, or evidence of strong potential for scholarship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with STEM education research
  • Demonstrated proficiency in BOTH qualitative and quantitative research methods

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and fine motor skills. Talking and hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
