Technical Associate I, Langer Lab

Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Langer Lab, to use background in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, immunology, cell biology, or closely associated discipline as part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists comprised of pharmaceutical scientists, material scientists, computer scientists, chemical engineers, and medical doctors.  The lab is involved in the design of novel materials, formulations, and devices for the delivery of nucleic acids (such as DNA and RNA) and the implantation of cells (e.g., beta cells, stem cells).  Will contribute towards the engineering of these systems and their characterization in vitro and in vivo; be involved in tissue culture; work with small and large animals; maintain lab notes; and share results with the team, both verbally and in written communication.  

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED:  B.A./B.S. in biomedical engineering, biological engineering, biology, or related field; two years’ specialized lab experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate; experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, PCR, western blotting, histology, cell culture, and cell encapsulation; self-motivation and willingness to learn new tools and techniques; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; comfort summarizing and reporting results to interdisciplinary researchers; commitment to exceeding standards and producing accurate, high quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. PREFERRED: M.S. in related field and experience in chemical synthesis and/or characterization (e.g., polymer synthesis, nanoformulation, etc.).  Job #22590
