Research Support Associate, Anderson Lab
Job Description
RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Anderson Lab, to support an exciting team interested in improving the targeted delivery of nucleic acids for therapeutic gene editing. Will provide basic technical support--under the direct supervision of postdoctoral researchers--for researchers and their projects by assisting in experimental studies in cultured cells and small rodents aimed at understanding delivery of the nucleic acids; and conduct basic lab experiments under close supervision, perform prep work for experiments, conduct standard lab techniques, and support lab and/or research projects or protocols. Duties will include cell culture, animal husbandry, RT-PCR, and imaging (bioluminescence, confocal microscopy, fluorescence); tissue harvesting and the preparation/analysis of histopathological samples; cell culture; flow cytometry; DNA, RNA, and protein isolation and detection techniques; and general lab support and assistance with research experiments.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; computer skills; practiced documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail; a commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; awareness of safe work practices and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and willingness to work with animals. See a self-motivated, highly organized team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is comfortable summarizing and reporting results to researchers. PREFERRED: a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, exposure to a research lab, working knowledge of molecular biology and genetics, and experience in the ethical and humane use of animals (especially mice) in laboratory research.
