Assistant Director, Academic Community Development

Job Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, ACADEMIC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, MindHandHeart, to serve as a trusted resource in support of ongoing and measurable enhancements in the creation of a welcoming environment where community members share a sense of belonging.  Will work closely with Institutional Research to provide an understanding of data elements that support community, belonging, achievement, and composition to departments and provide departments with guidance on assessment practices for departmental programs; aggregate best practices across MIT to develop a repository of interventions that may be deployed across academic units; conduct operations and administration for the program, including developing an annual review plan and calendar; identify and resolve issues; cultivate relationships to gain support for new ideas; and evaluate program effectiveness.

The focus of MindHandHeart is to strengthen the social fabric and well-being of the entire MIT community.  

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; three years’ related higher education administration, change management, and/or project management experience; demonstrated track record of working with faculty, staff, and students; attention to detail; ability to work under minimal supervision and exercise initiative in meeting and anticipating emerging issues/requirements; discretion and sound judgment with highly confidential materials/information; and excellent organizational, administrative, interpersonal, problem-solving, writing, editing, and oral communication skills.  Seek a client- and teamwork-oriented person who is able to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and colleagues and has a track record of leading by influence.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree in higher education administration, organizational change management, or similar area.  Job #22584-8
