Job Description

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (AR), Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to contribute to the reporting, compliance, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions related to the Institute’s accounts receivable, including state and federal filings and general ledger accounts.  Will also provide limited support to MIT community members.

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration; at least one year of financial accounting or audit experience and one year delivering customer service to a broad constituency; profiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); demonstrated ability to swiftly identify issues and escalate to management as necessary; strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to ensure the timely delivery of all responsibilities and assignments under minimal supervision and strict deadlines; ability to use discretion, tact, and sound judgment when working with highly sensitive and confidential information; collaborative work style for fostering interpersonal relationships, both within the team and the wider community; flexibility, adaptability, and ability to modify approach to meet different situations; willingness to work together with the team to complete all tasks; and the ability to learn new tasks, take on new assignments, and support team initiatives.  PREFERRED: experience with accounts receivable and collections processes at large educational research universities or businesses with significant AR intake and volume; experience with account reconciliation; general knowledge of accounting rules; knowledge of the financial operations of nonprofit organizations, especially colleges and universities; experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems; and MIT experience.  Job #22579-6

Salary range: $65,000 - 73,000
