Program Administrator, Graduate Students with Children

Job Description

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, GRADUATE STUDENTS WITH CHILDREN, Office of Graduate Education (OGE), to serve as the primary point of contact and central resource of information and support services for graduate students in their role as parents. Will collaborate with Institute partners to help students connect with programs, policies, and other resources to improve the experience and alleviate the stressors related to raising a family while being a student.  Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of MIT-administered programs, advising students on relevant policies/procedures, and delivering services (e.g., resource events, workshops, orientations, and other guidance and support) to student parents; working with academic departments and partners across MIT to coordinate processes/programs, e.g., childbirth accommodations and parental leave, grants for student parents, and community-building programs; taking a primary lead on orchestrating some programs for student families and collaborating with Institute partners to offer others; and contributing to OGE’s overall goals and objectives, including support for strategic planning, program assessment, gap analysis, data collection, report generation, office-wide projects, and other Institute-wide initiatives.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; two years’ administrative and/or project/program administration experience; strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; self-motivation; proven record of administrative competence and project/program management experience; knowledge of and appreciation for cross-cultural and bias issues; experience with databases; and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Drupal or an equivalent web application.  Must be able to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and administrators at a research institution; communicate across all levels of an organization; work with diverse populations; and listen carefully and communicate tactfully.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree with an emphasis on program coordination, assessment, higher education administration, academic advising, or related field.  Job #22576-7

Salary range: $61,850 – 74,000

This is a hybrid position with a blend of remote and on-campus work.
