Technical Associate I, Neuroscience

Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, NEUROSCIENCE, McGovern Institute for Brain Research (multiple openings), to work in the laboratory of Professor Guoping Feng. Professor Feng is leading a large collaborative effort to use marmosets as model animals for the study and treatment of complex brain disorders such as autism and schizophrenia.  Will primarily be responsible for collecting behavioral, cognitive, physiological, and neural data from marmosets alongside researchers; organizing and annotating the collected data; and manually annotating datasets to assist in training neural networks used for analysis.  Will be trained in all of these tasks.  Will also be responsible for coordinating schedules between researchers, veterinarians, and staff; and participate in the care of animals, general experimental support, and data organization.  There will also be opportunities to design experiments and write code to analyze data if interested.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences, biology, neuroscience, or a related field; two years of lab research experience; excellent organizational and communication skills; initiative; meticulous attention to detail; flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to lift weights of up to 20 lbs. over one’s head. PREFERRED:  knowledge of and experience working with animals.  Job #22296
