We are looking for an energetic and engaged professional to join the College of Engineering to develop and coordinate programming focused on creating an inclusive, diverse, and equitable community where all members – undergraduates, graduate students, staff, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, alumni, and community partners – belong.

Core Responsibilities include:

  • Work in collaboration with the Associate Dean for DEI and the DEI team to support the administration of the College of Engineering DEI strategic plan, including timely updates and follow-up on initiatives.

  • Develop, promote, implement, and assess programming designed to create a sense of well-being, belonging and community within the College of Engineering for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Collaborate with campus partners/programs to engage and enhance the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging goals of the college.

  • Work with DEI colleagues to develop, coordinate, and implement a system for layered mentorship in the College of Engineering. This effort includes student, staff and faculty engagement

  • Serve as the office liaison to college-wide engineering student diversity organizations such as NSBE, oSTEM, SASE, SHPE and SWE to provide communication, education, and community building opportunities.

  • Coordinate the selection, training, and facilitation of activities for the College of Engineering DEI Student Advisory Committee.

  • Work with the Associate Dean for DEI (AD-DEI), other DEI colleagues and the college-wide DEI committee to develop and implement the Intergroup Dialogue program (see above for description of the program).

  • Performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field; Master’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.

  • 1-3 years of experience working in the field of higher education related to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Experience in advising or mentoring students preferred.

You should demonstrate:

  • Facilitation and training skills

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with campus community and external partners.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (specifically Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word). Ability to learn a variety of software applications.

  • Some evening and weekend hours are required.
