JOB SUMMARY: Director of Camping and Community Services

The Director, Camping and Community Services is responsible for the planning and implementation of program services, primarily within the central Pennsylvania region, with an emphasis on camping and community programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Director of Camping and Community Services

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Administration, Human Services or equivalent required.
• Supervisory experience required.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required (or required to be obtained within the first three months of employment).
• Prior experience in clinical or community-based programs preferred.
• Current valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and acceptable driving record obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation required.
• Acceptable Criminal, Child Abuse and FBI Clearances required.
• Passing of physical examination and TB required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES-Director, Camping and Community Services

Program Planning

1. Plan the implementation of all community-based programming. This includes, but is not limited to day camps, day programs and a variety of evening and weekend initiatives. Assure they reflect the needs of both the region and the clients. Establish rapport with clients, their families and community groups.

2.. Assure program safety policies and procedures are in place for clients, staff and volunteers. Develop new procedures as necessary to address risk management issues. Maintain records to meet all requirements.

3. Develop and adhere to annual departmental budget and annual departmental goals/plan.

Supervision

4. Recruit, hire and supervise program staff, volunteers and interns. Assures staffing pattern meets the need and productivity expectations for each program/activity.

5. Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Director of Camping and Community Services. Provide direction and guidance to all residential and military camps.

Administration

6. In coordination with the Development Department, market the programs as appropriate.

7. Develop working relationships with other organizations and service providers to help provide a continuum of services. Serve as a community resource for disability services.

Finance and Marketing

8. Develop and adhere to departmental budget for assigned programs on an annual basis. Oversee all billing and payments for such programs, knowing the contracts in detail.

9. Market programs and participate in development initiatives. Assist in identifying and obtaining grants plus oversee awards. Maintain all necessary records for fiscal department and for funders.

BENEFITS

This is a full-time position working 8am-4pm for a 35 hour week with one hour unpaid lunch. The annual rate is $50,000. Full benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, Paid Time Off, company 403b and other insurance products.
