Summary

Designed to foster and promote the health and wellness of children/youth and their families/caregivers, Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) are guided by core principles inherent in the children’s behavioral health system. The Youth and Family Engagement Specialist provides support, guidance, skill-building, and role modeling to the participants in the CFTSS program. Through a child-centered, family-focused, community-based, multi-system, culturally competent, and least-restrictive approach, they support enrolled youth and their families to meet their behavioral health needs and prevent the onset or progression of behavioral health symptoms. They provide intensive family engagement and community support to the child and their support system.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provides child-centered, family-focused, community-based, multi-system, culturally competent services in the least disruptive manner possible, aligning with current treatment plans.

2. Engages in regular collaboration with children on their caseload and the children’s natural and professional support systems to identify and work towards goals.

3. Develops and maintains working relationships with various private and public service providers and resource agencies, including local schools and partner agencies.

4. Attend all meetings and training programs, as recommended or required.

5. Consistently enforce all agency policies and procedures.

6. Complete necessary documentation accurately and on time, in compliance with the most up to date documentation standards.

7. Interact with youth using positive role modeling.

8. Immediately report to a supervisor any situation considered unsafe for the youth.

9. React to change productively and handle duties, as assigned.

10. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with all clients and families.

11. Identify and implement individualized activities to help youth

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree plus two years of experience with working with children’s mental health, addiction, foster care, child welfare/juvenile justice, and/or a related human services field preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

First Aid & CPR (training provided by the Agency)

Valid New York State driver’s license with a good driving record

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.51 - $18.26 per hour
