*Thursday – Friday 3:00pm to 11:00 pm

We currently have exciting career opportunities available to join the HKS team as a Direct Support Professional in our Residential Program in Wantagh.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Supervise and positively interact with the consumers following all residential habilitation plans
• Encourage residents to participate in meal planning, activity scheduling and in creating an environment of their choice.
• Provide consumers with community integration opportunities.
• Direct consumers in their personal routine; give consumers positive reinforcement as appropriate
• Maintain complete and accurate daily records and communication logs
• Prepare meals utilizing provided menus
• Assist with and/or do laundry
• Conduct and document fire drills
• Maintain the order, safety, cleanliness of the residence including the outdoor areas.
• Provide medical oversight including medication administration under the supervision of the nursing staff
• Transport consumers to day program and appointments as necessary
• Interact with parents and professionals from outside Agencies
• Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid NYS Driver’s license required.
• Experience working with the developmentally disabled
