The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is Rutgers’ enterprise IT office. OIT provides university wide services and support and collaborates with department and unit IT professionals on projects and initiatives for the Rutgers community. OIT’s services and systems include the Rutgers network; email and calendaring systems; IDs/passwords and identity management; data centers; computer labs; help desk support; wireless connectivity; a software portal; information security, risk, and compliance services; research computing; and many others. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Telecommunications Analyst I for the Office of Information Technology – Enterprise Infrastructure (OIT- EI). Reporting to the Manager of Telecommunications, the primary role of the Telecommunications Analyst I is to assist in the implementation of Telecommunications technical solutions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides technical support and assistance during the implementation of cabling systems for both existing and newly desktop and collaboration devices.
  • Supports TD clients in technical solution implementation as it pertains to cabling solutions and overall service delivery for infrastructure upgrades, renovations and new construction across the NB/P and Newark campuses.
  • Serves as client liaison for desktop service delivery and works with the team that provides technical solutions that support those needs.
  • Applies best practices in installation and maintenance of desktop and collaboration equipment and cabling to deliver value-added solutions in a cost-effective manner.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree or equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Experience in information technology, or voice services delivery and installation.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experiential hands on knowledge of Telecommunications technologies and their application.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fire code and electrical code adherence.
  • Must be able to use network testers and fiber optic testing equipment.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as drills, saws, screwdrivers, and hammers.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of skills related to the installation of Category 6/6A cabling, and termination ad testing of cabling.
  • This position is responsible for responding to service requests in the campus environment.
  • This position will be expected to prioritize service requests.

Immunization Requirements
