Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Operations Coordinator for the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy (EMSOP) and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). The Lab Operations Coordinator (Simulation Operations Specialist), co-funded by the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy (EMSOP) and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), is responsible for providing technical and operational support for simulation activities within RBHS and for supporting related activities with clients and partners, as assigned.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Functions as an operations and technical expert within the program to ensure initiatives meet the needs of the organization and the clients. In cooperation with faculty and simulation educators.
  • Sets up simulation activities and provides support and troubleshooting for day-to-day operations.
  • Provide basic clinical expertise during the scenario design, setup phase, and/or training sessions, as needed.
  • Assists with the growth and development of healthcare simulation through participation in project management processes, product education (e.g., consulting and training) initiatives, and simulation delivery.
  • Within RBHS, assists other Schools and departments within the academic health system as an internal expert and provides active participation in the overall growth and development of the program.
  • Working under the direction of the Director of Simulation Technology at EMSOP, is responsible for serving the needs of for growth and development of simulation programs at EMSOP and RWJMS, as well as providing support for additional interprofessional education and service as determined by the needs of the program.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience involving educational activities in a healthcare environment.
  • The preferred candidate will have a valid license/certification as an emergency medical technician, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, respiratory therapist, or paramedic.
  • The preferred candidate will also have additional instructor certification(s) in courses such as Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and other adult learner focused programs.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification.
  • A minimum of one year of experience (or equivalent) in patient care in a clinical setting is preferred.

  • Computers, information technology and networking equipment
  • High, middle, and low fidelity manikins and task trainers
  • Healthcare related clinical equipment and materials
  • Audio/visual equipment such as cameras, sound boards, and streaming production equipment
  • 3D printing and biomedical equipment
  • Animal tissues/cadaver tissues (infrequently, but possible)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Able to push, pull, and move up to 85 pounds with assistance; must have manual dexterity to use tools and work on mechanical parts, must be willing to wear personal protective equipment as required.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
