Postdoctoral Associate

The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine, University of Florida Diabetes Institute is seeking creative and highly motivated individuals for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. The scientist will be engaged in studying novel pathways regulating the differentiation and pathogenicity of T cells, the function of regulatory T cell biology in autoimmunity. Work includes use animal models and human samples. Immunology, in vivo mouse models, and flow cytometry experience are preferred.  Salary can be negotiated based on the candidate’s experience in immunology and flow cytometry fields.

The successful candidate will be expected to design and implement projects, work with both human samples and mice, collaborate within and between labs, participate in the drafting of scientific publications and funding proposals, and may, with direction from the PI, supervise technical support personnel. The selected individual will receive strong mentoring to promote scientific growth and development.

Salary guided by NIH guidelines and candidate’s experience.

Applicant must be a Ph.D. candidate or recent Ph.D. graduate in immunology or related fields

• Experience in writing research manuscripts and grant applications
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and effectively
• Proven track record of problem-solving
• Publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Flow cytometry immunoprofiling and analysis methods, Immunophenotyping assays
• Experience with studying islet-immune cells interactions and human T-cells
• R-programming and data analysis for immunology/biology projects.
• Experience working with college students and staff
• Demonstrated skills in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multi-projects team
• Energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships
• Self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, standards and ethics
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
