Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Regional Scheduler to work at Northern State Prison, located in Newark, New Jersey. Under the guidance of the Administrator, the Regional Scheduler processes all consultation requests and related documentation for the facility. The position will interface with the Statewide Ombudsperson on concerns elevated to a state level.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
* As the Ombudsperson, investigates and problem solves issues raised by inmates, family, friends and /or advocates concerning issues related to medical, and/or dental treatment at the facility.
* Develops monthly grievance reports.
* Monitors, reviews and maintains the Inmate Eligibility System to insure that the information contained in the database is accurate and up-to-date daily.
* Follows up with discharge planning with attending physician and Physician I (Site Medical Director).
* Works closely with CMS physician advisors and Medical Directors Council to update and maintain policies according to industry standards.
* Maintains daily work logs that summarize activity for monthly and yearly reports.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
* High School graduate required.
* Minimum of three (3) years of medical office or hospital experience including medical records clerical duties.
* Experience maintaining confidential relationships. 
Certifications/Licenses
* Valid driver’s license is required.
* Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Requires a working knowledge of medical terminology. Experience maintaining confidential relationships.
* Demonstrated ability in providing quality customer service.
* Computer literacy. 
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook is preferred.
* Some college preferred. 
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Typing, ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Department of Corrections in shared office environments, ability to speak clearly and write proficiently is essential, extensive reading required, extended sitting is required, intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities, ability to move from unit to unit within correctional facilities, frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls, manual dexterity and mobility for charting, lifting up to 50 pounds, hearing and sight are essential, ability to speak clearly is required, may be required to travel within the state, ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
