Position Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of five health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. Position Summary | The McGinty laboratory at UNC-Chapel Hill invites highly skilled and motivated structural biologists, biochemists, or chemical biologists, who are interested in expanding their skills while working on significant and impactful chromatin research, to apply for this position. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct independent research furthering the laboratory’s studies of proteins that regulate chromatin structure and function through epigenetic processes, disruption of which leads to many human diseases including cancer. The postdoctoral associate will be a part of a multidisciplinary team that will express and purify recominbant proteins and DNA for use in structural biology and biochemisty experiments. Projects will require use of single particle cryo-electron microscopy and/or X-ray crystallography, as well as other biochemical and biophysical techniques. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | - Prior experience with molecular biology and protein expression and purification are required. - Ideal candidates will have demonstrated high productivity through exemplary publication records. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | - Experience with structural biology techniques, peptide or protein chemistry, and mass spectrometry are preferred. |
