Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Joanna Mattis Michigan (mattislab.org) uses several well-established mouse models combined with optogenetics, chemogenetics, calcium imaging, and slice and in vivo electrophysiology, to elucidate and correct neuronal circuits that contribute to epilepsy.

The Mattis lab is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to lead a project investigating the function of subcortical neuromodulatory circuits in seizures, using two-photon calcium imaging in vivo. Candidates should be a recent PhD graduate. Prior experience with two-photon calcium imaging and data analysis is preferred.

The post-doctoral scholar in the Mattis lab will have active and personalized mentoring to achieve their long-term career goals as well as the freedom to follow their scientific interests. As a new PI, Dr. Mattis is particularly invested in the professional success and happiness of her laboratory members and has recent personal experience with this transitional career phase.

Required Qualifications*

  • Candidates should be a recent PhD graduate.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Prior experience with two-photon calcium imaging and data analysis is preferred

Background Screening
