Overview
Rutgers Future Scholars Launch Pad is the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate career preparatory and academic advising program for 1000+ Rutgers Future Scholars who have completed the Rutgers Future Scholars pre-college program. Launch Pad focuses on students’ social development, leadership, personal empowerment, academic success, and career readiness. Launch Pad offers a platform of for-credit courses, seminars, mentoring/coaching, professional network building, and support throughout their undergraduate years of college and one post-graduate year, ultimately leading to a diverse talent pipeline for our region and nation. Launch Pad supports scholars from New Brunswick, Piscataway, Newark, Rahway and Camden communities who have participated in our five year pre-college program beginning the summer before 8th grade. Each scholar became part of a college-going culture of university programming, events, support, and mentoring that continued through their high school years and now in college and beyond.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for Rutgers Future Scholars. This position will work alongside a dedicated assemblage of educators passionate about serving first generation college graduate hopefuls. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of the Rutgers Future Scholars program, the incumbent plays a critical role in delivering new and leveraging existing University related services for for RFS population across all RFS community sites statewide.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists in providing advising to scholars to proactively support andfamiliarize them with the academic and co-curricular resources andmonitor scholar engagement and academic performance.
  • Provides day-to-day administration of the Career Mentoring Program,pre-college career education and other strategic initiatives ofLaunchPad under Rutgers Future Scholars.
  • Works to connect undergraduate scholars to existing universityresources and programs as well as designing cohort-specificexperiences and programming that facilitate the discovery of theirown talents, visions, and goals.
  • Assists in creating and facilitates career-based programming pre-college scholars (communities include: Camden, New Brunswick,Newark, Piscataway and Rahway) of the RFS program.
  • Responsible for assisting with all major RFS events and special projectsUniversity Wide with emphasis on the post-high school scholarcommunity.
  • Additional tasks include creating project timelines and collaboratingwith program’s Administrative Assistant on arrangements withvendors and any special projects that are needed by Assistant Directoror staff.
  • Assists with marketing support for Rutgers Future Scholars including social media pages.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience.

  • Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, and/or report writing principles and practices.
  • Also requires experience in an high level administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills; problem solving skills; and organizational skills.
  • Possess the ability to attend to multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Sufficient knowledge of university operations to establish and maintain appropriate priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of college recruiting cycle and efforts preferred.
  • Career counseling experience a plus.
  • Experience in a higher education work environment is preferred.
  • Rutgers University Career Services Platform “Handshake”, Knowledge of LinkedIn and other Professional Job sites.
  • Knowledge of Canvas Learning System and familiarity with internal Rutgers systems.
  • Ability to speak, read and write Spanish.
Equipment Utilized
  • Microsoft Office (word, excel, powerpoint, etc); Canvas for Instructional Purposes.
  • Qualtrics for surveying/data management, Canva, signal vine, constant contact, Zoom and social media outlets.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Travel to Rutgers University regional institutions required (as needed).
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours for events.

Immunization Requirements
