Manager of Programs, MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science (MITES)

Job Description

MANAGER OF PROGRAMS, MIT INTRODUCTION TO TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND SCIENCE (MITES), Office of Engineering Outreach Programs (OEOP), to report to the executive director and lead and develop a team of seven professional staff members to ensure alignment of programs across operational areas and collaboration among team members and business partners to fully implement MITES’ outreach programs.  Will develop and monitor systems and training to ensure the safety of students and staff; work with the MITES team--including executive director, program administrators, coordinators, and assistants--in the areas of program assessment and evaluation, program planning and strategy, and budget management; contribute to the MITES teaching and learning philosophy, recruitment, and admissions activities; and perform program-related communications, including writing funding proposals and reports.  Will also be involved with team staff hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development; temporary staff and student support and overseeing student enrollment policies and implementation of Institute policies on working with minors.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree, preferably in STEM and/or education; demonstrated experience and success leading a team; five years’ direct program development and project planning experience, preferably in higher education; and management/supervisory experience.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree; experience with and support for diversity, outreach, college access, and STEM education; experience with data analysis; organizational, meeting management, project management, decision-making, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; good judgment with confidential information; ability to collaborate on a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, synthesize information from various sources, multitask, manage time and deadlines, and remain flexible/adaptable in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel) cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Drive), SharePoint, and Dropbox; written and oral Spanish language skills; and MIT experience.  Job #22417-10

Must be able to work evenings and weekends during the academic year and summer, including long hours during summer programming execution.
