Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position reports to the Director of Washington Certification Services (WCS) and provides direct support to the Waterworks Operator and Backflow Assembly Tester Certification and Professional Growth programs. The Assistant Program Specialist is responsible for collaboratively working with WCS staff, the college community, Department of Health, operators, and other stakeholders. This position serves as the department’s first point of contact for all stakeholders.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Answer phones during business hours.
  • Respond to constituent questions and concerns for BAT and Waterworks programs.
  • Manage office email correspondence.
  • Approve and process Live Training submittals, Self Paced Training submittals, and exam upgrades.
  • Assist with communications: techniques, message development, and mailings.
  • Assist the Assistant Director with examination applications and written exam processing.
  • Under the direction of the Director: evaluate technical training for relevancy, accredit relevant training following IACET and DOH guidelines. Monitor course accreditation approval status.
  • Complete monthly financial statement reports.
  • Manage department pcard reconciliation (compile receipts, submit budget report each month)
  • Represent WCS at various conferences and events both in and out of state.
  • Support the BAT certification, professional growth, and renewal program as needed.
  • Assist in various special projects throughout the year.
  • Adapt to changing and evolving program tasks and procedures.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of similar office experience.
  • Strong written and verbal customer services skills.
  • Proven high quality performance record including but not limited to excellent customer service, punctuality, attendance, accuracy, etc.
  • Ability to respond professionally in occasional stressful situations.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday during regular business hours.
  • Ability to travel both in and out of state to represent WCS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (such as Outlook, Word, basic Excel).
  • Experience with multiple computer related programs, software, etc.
  • Willingness to take technical courses related to the waterworks field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AA degree or higher.
