Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Assistant for the Eagleton Institute of Politics. The Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling (ECPIP) at the Eagleton Institute of Politics, is the first and longest running statewide university-based polling operation in the United States. This position is responsible for assisting with daily operations for the ECPIP, including the Rutgers-Eagleton Poll and client research services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Daily operations may include managing both undergraduate and graduate internships, managing part-time employees, conducting data analysis for both statewide polling and survey research projects, drafting and/or writing publications related to ECPIP projects, interacting with clients, and performing general research related to the center’s work.
  • The Eagleton Institute is a collaborative team. On occasion, all members are asked to participate in Institute-wide and /or cross-team projects

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant social science or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including comfort with verbal (i.e. phone, video, in person, and
    email) engagement with clients, vendors, scholars, and research subjects.
  • Must have excellent internet research and computer literacy skills, especially in working with Excel.
  • Must be able to work independently on projects.
  • Must work well with teams.
  • Must have experience managing part-time and student employees (in an education setting is a plus).
  • Fluent in at least one statistical software program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in survey research, preferably at an academic survey research center.
  • Training and certification in human subjects’ research.
  • Fluency in SPSS statistical software.
  • Fluency in Qualtrics survey programming.
Equipment Utilized
  • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel. SPSS, STATA, and/or other statistical programs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Eagleton offices are located within a historic building with no elevator. The duties of this position regularly involve navigating stairs numerous times a day. An applicant may request a reasonable accommodation if they have a disability that restricts them in their ability to climb and/or navigate stairs.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same.
