Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Administrator for the department of Surgery within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Program Administrator I position is to provide direction, leadership, and day-to-day administration and management of the General Surgery Residency (GSR) Program under guidance from the Program Director (PD). In addition, the Program Administrator will work to implement activities related to the residency program in the Department of Surgery. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following: 
  • Serves as liaison with the NJMS Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office for all internal and external compliance and documentation requirements. 
  • Leads the day-to-day planning and coordination of the office in consultation with Program Director.
  • Assists Program Director and faculty in the development of program curriculum, including integration and evaluation of core competencies into all educational activities.
  • Serves as a member of, develops agendas, takes minutes, and implements decisions and actions for residency committees (i.e. GME Committees, Program Evaluation Committees (PEC), etc.
  • Develops and maintains database systems to ensure accuracy of electronic residency records as determined by the Program Director and GME Office.
  • Serves as primary contact to individual residents as both employees and physicians in training.
  • Manages the electronic residency/faculty evaluation system and ensures program compliance with ACGME evaluation requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in planning and administering education programs in a medical school environment.
  • Marketplace (Rutgers University’s procurement platform) experience.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient with Windows applications and Microsoft Office Suite Applications including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, and Internet applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a graduate medical education office and Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) certification preferred.

Immunization Requirements
