Project Manager, Campus Construction

Job Description

PROJECT MANAGER, Facilities-Campus Construction, to provide operational management for facilities projects such as construction, commissioning, and renovations.  Will be responsible for managing construction projects and meeting budgets and deliverable schedules; delivering quality construction and renovation projects from inception to closeout; and managing a complex portfolio of multiple small-to-mid-size projects. Typical project scope ranges from $100,000 to $10,000,000 or more as assigned.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management; five years of experience providing project management for projects on an active, urban campus environment within occupied buildings; ability to exercise judgment and independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard project management approaches; ability to prepare budgets, schedules, logistical graphic description on project implementation; excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to give effective presentations and prepare written documents; excellent negotiation, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and form alliances with a variety of peers/clients; ability to independently resolve complex issues and recognize when to escalate; ability to interact effectively with other groups and take ownership and follow through on assignments; experience with project scheduling and Microsoft Office applications; progressive experience managing multiple small-to-mid-size and complex design and construction projects simultaneously, meeting budget and deliverable schedules; experience managing project scope ranges from $100,000 to $10,000,000; full knowledge and understanding of relevant Massachusetts’ building codes and regulations; ability to manage design, construction and consulting services for renovation and new construction of classrooms/labs/offices/residences and targeted systems such as building envelope, elevators, fire protection, and electrical and HVAC systems.  PREFERRED:  LEED accreditation.  Job #22504-9

Working conditions:  unusual noise levels, tight spaces, varied temperatures, and/or outside environmental conditions with no protection from the weather for short periods of time; working in research labs that contain hazardous materials or exposure to infrastructure environments such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; moving objects weighing 10 to 20 lbs.; traversing long distances or moving from site to site; and use of arms and/or legs to push, pull, and lift objects.
