Research Support Associate, Li Lab

Job Description

RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Li Lab, to assist with lab administration and pursue high-impact research projects investigating the underlying biology of hematopoiesis. The lab is led by a physician-scientist who also treats patients with cancer and blood disorders at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The lab is focused on understanding fundamental mechanisms of human blood disorders and developing novel therapeutics.  It also has a dedicated focus on training the next generation of scientists. Will be responsible for data input and basic lab support functions and lab administration.  Responsibilities include maintaining lab calendar and directories; participating in planning and executing lab events and meetings; maintaining vendor relationships and equipment service contracts/records; scheduling equipment maintenance and repair; assisting with maintaining laboratory inventory, including supplies and reagents; database maintenance; conducting online research; generating standardized reports; and updating and maintaining web content. 

The position offers an opportunity to perform cutting-edge research and receive extensive one-on-one mentor from the principal investigator in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent and willingness to work with and learn mice handling.  PREFERRED:  bachelor's degree in biological or chemistry sciences; exposure to a research lab; basic cell or molecular biology laboratory experience; experience with molecular biology and handling micropipettes, sterile technique in mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, and mice handling; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Job #22507-3
