Description

Under thedirection of the Principal Investigator, you will assist in the study of musculoskeletal disorders. The LabAssistant’s work is assigned, reviewed and supervised on a daily basis by thePrincipal Investigator. Laboratory Maintenance, Mouse Colony Maintenance, and cell Culture Salary Range: $20.66 – $24.30/hourly

Qualifications

* Working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safetyregulations regarding use of chemical, biological and radiactive substances andtheir disposal. * Passage of ARC and DLAM exams for entry andhandling of animals * Ability to exercise good organization andwork habits. * Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. * Ability to maintain a clean workingenvironment. * Ability to maintain accurate inventory ofsupplies and laboratory instruments. * Ability to maintain documentation ofexperiments performed via a lab notebook or other means * Ability to maintain laboratory equipment ingood working order. * Ability to pass UCLA exams for work withradioactivity and biohazards * Ability to walk distances up to 1/3 mile. * Ability to work independently in organizingtasks, setting priorities to ensure that responsibilities are carried out in anaccurate and timely fashion. * Ability to work with animals. * Interpersonal skills to effectively interactwith faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students. * Knowledge of basic computer skills involvingdata entry and organizational skills using Word, Excel, Photoshop, andPowerpoint on Mac. * Knowledge to prepare chemical solutions andbuffers using standard methods. * Skill in writing legible, concise andgrammatically correct documentation of your work in Standard English (lab notesand protocols). * Working knowledge of library referencesystem. Preferred * Knowledge to prepare and maintain explantedtissue cultures.
