Job Description

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mixed Dimensional Heterostructures

The NSF PREM For Hybrid Nanoscale Systems at North Carolina Central University is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to develop 2D heterostructures and explore their applications in chemical and biological sensing, solar cell development, pathogen detection and disinfection.

The initial appointment will be for a period of one year with the possibility of an extension for up to three years. The PREM program is a partnership with Pennsylvania State University, and a core responsibility of the position is to serve as the interface between NCCU and Penn State research groups, and to use the extensive characterization facilities available at Penn State.

We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled candidate with a strong background in synthesis and characterization of 2D nanomaterials and heterostructures. Other desired skills include experience with supervision of undergraduate and graduate student researchers, strong oral and written communication skills, and willingness to work with a wide range of team research projects.

Candidates should hold a Ph. D. in chemistry, physics, materials science, or other relevant disciplines. Interested candidates should submit a CV, statement of research experience/interests and two reference letters to fyan@nccu.edu. NCCU is a Historically Black University within the University of North Carolina System, and we are actively seeking applicants from underrepresented minorities.
