Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), to provide administrative support for a high-volume research laboratory headquarters office supporting a community of 700 faculty, researchers, and administrative staff.  Will perform a variety of complex client-centric administrative duties focused on supporting RLE’s operations, facilities, and human resources functions.  Responsibilities include acting as a resource for RLE staff and visitors, handling or triaging telephone and in-person inquiries through to resolution; supporting the onboarding of new hires/visitors; handling the appointment processes and acting as backup for others; coordinating the key inventory and distribution processes; collaborating with the environmental health and safety coordinator to ensure compliance; leading planning activities for high-profile events; coordinating the DLC parking process; providing administrative support for RLE headquarters’ operations and assistant director for administration; and other duties as assigned.  

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ administrative, office, or related experience; high-level proficiency with MS Office, email, and the internet; diplomacy and ability to exercise good judgment--balancing innovative problem-solving with policy requirements--when developing appropriate courses of action; excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; discretion with confidential material; initiative; and meticulous attention to detail and accuracy when handling a high volume of work.  Must be able to earn the confidence of a diverse, demanding, customer base; set priorities; respond to needs with appropriate level of urgency; embrace learning new business methods; assume greater responsibility over time; and work independently and as a member of a productive, collaborative, and innovative team in a fast-paced and challenging environment.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree, knowledge of multidimensional databases, and MIT experience.  Job #22472-5
