The Long Beach Community College District is seeking a qualified individual for our current opportunity as an SBDC Program Coordinator in the Department of Economic, Workforce Development and Government Affairs. The SBDC Program Coordinator for the Los Angeles Regional Small Business Development Center Network Lead Center supports the administrative functions related to the entire network covering three counties – Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties. The position interfaces with small business owners, external stakeholders, state, county, and federal entities, SBDC Business Advisors and SBDC Service Center Directors and staff. The SBDC Program Coordinator provides administrative support for the SBDC Lead Center, performs project coordination and scheduling, assists with the planning and coordination of Network operations, webinars, training, events and other network related activities, assists with invoicing and tracking of metrics, takes initiative, and uses sound judgment in selecting appropriate work methods while managing multiple self-directed projects with varying degrees of difficulty and deadlines. The position requires the ability to handle a wide variety of duties and coordinating functions, including event coordination, research, managing reporting, outreach events, and a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.

  • Salary: Range 36: $5,502.53 - $6, 787.77 Monthly
    Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

 

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under supervision of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Regional Director for the SBDC Lead Center within the Office of Economic and Resource Development, performs project coordination, interfaces with business community, legislative offices, senior executives, assists with the planning and coordination of network operations, events coordination and other network business-related activities; performs administrative support, responsible for administrative duties and provide administrative support and manage services for the lead center; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance or other related fields; and a minimum of two years of experience with administrative support, community relations, small business operations and a minimum of two years experience in office and project management, event planning or in a position with similar responsibilities and duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish and a familiarity with the Hispanic small business community is preferred.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
May require a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the district's vehicle insurance policy.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified from further consideration. Qualified candidates will be notified in writing if they are moving forward in the selection process.

Application Process:

  • If the position requires a college degree, transcripts or copy of a diploma, the required document must be attached at the time of application. Unofficial transcripts are accepted during this phase. For experience substitution in lieu of education, please make sure to attach a statement clearly outlining how your additional experience covers the education requirement, on a year-for-year basis, and qualifies you to be considered for this position.
  • If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.

The following examination segments are pass/fail and may be utilized during the selection process:

Subject Matter Expert (SME) Review: TBD

An Online Written Test or Oral Panel Interview may be used to assess applicant qualifications. Test parts are determined by the size and competitiveness of the candidate pool.

The qualified candidates will be placed on an unranked list. Seniority points for internal existing LBCC employees and points for Veteran's credit will not be added. The unranked list will be submitted to the hiring authority for consideration.
