GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

The position will be responsible for compiling, editing, submitting, and ensuring compliance of Department of Education and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) reporting. Also responsible for developing and implementing a wide range of the College’s institutional research activities including student evaluations of faculty, grade distribution reports, student success reports, faculty reports, and post-hoc research reports. This position receives general supervision from the Chief of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and supervises professional staff.

NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

 


SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Advanced institutional research functions. 2. SAS programming language. 3. THECB state reporting (including but not limited to: Eligible Training Provider Recertification, Performance Measures, Licensure Reporting, etc.) 4. Department of Education Report (including by not limited to: IPEDS, Student Right to Know, etc.) 5. THECB CBM Reporting. 6. SACSCOC requirements for federal and state compliance. 7. Development of measurable outcomes. 8. Quantitative data analysis. Skills in: 9. Editing CBM data and reports. 10. Programming of any language. Ability to: 11. Work independently and as a team. 12. Perform high-level data entry. 13. Assign and manage a portfolio of projects for self and other staff members. 14. Able to multi-task and complete important time-sensitive projects on-time and with excellence. 15. Work effectively with databases. 16. Read, interpret and ensure compliance with Federal and State reporting requirements. 17. Read, interpret and implement detailed, complex and often incomplete instructions. 18. Use critical and creative thinking skills to perform complex research projects. 19. Generate and understand data reports using Microsoft Office Suite, Informer, Colleague’s Ellucian, and SAS. 20. Use advanced features of SAS to automate report generation, create complex reports, and conduct descriptive statistics including charts and tables. 21. Effectively respond to requests from state, public, and community agencies. 22. Communicate clearly, professionally, effectively, and cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. 23. Communicate the results of research in writing and in presentations to faculty, staff, and administrators.

 


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: More than three years of professional experience in institutional effectiveness or research at a college or university.

 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: More than one year of experience in compiling and editing reports for the THECB or Department of Education.
