Research Specialist/Lab Manager

Job Description

RESEARCH SPECIALIST/LAB MANAGER, Linguistics and Philosophy-Language Acquisition Lab, to join a lab doing research on language acquisition in typically developing children. Will assist lab members and the principal investigator with research projects on syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic development.  Responsibilities will include designing, running and analyzing experiments with toddlers, children, and adults; preparing and/or developing experimental materials; preparing, storing, and managing sensitive participant data; recruiting participants; assisting with data analysis; coordinating, training, and supervising undergraduate research assistants; maintaining equipment; coordinating the use of space; organizing meetings; and managing lab expenses.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  undergraduate degree in linguistics, cognitive science, or psychology; an interest in language acquisition and linguistics; experience working with young children (ages 2 to 5); excellent organizational and communication skills; experience with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Numbers) and statistical analysis software (preferably R); comfort with technical troubleshooting and multitasking; attention to detail; and some programming experience.  PREFERRED:  proficiency with R, Python, MATLAB, and JavaScript; experience with database management (e.g., FileMaker); experience with eye tracking; experience with CHILDES and corpus analyses; and coursework in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and statistics.  Job #22490

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to facilitate data collection.
