We are seeking a talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Antibody Engineering Department. The group is defining important therapeutic problems and solving them through protein/antibody engineering. Bispecific antibodies are a core capability of the lab. We have a strong interest in enhancing existing or enabling novel functionalities to provide the molecule with superior activity or widen the therapeutic index. The engineering of antibody variants will be carried out through rational design or display techniques and subsequent cellular assays will validate successful engineering. The position brings the opportunity to interact with a broad range of scientists from Antibody Engineering and other departments in the Genentech research community. Additionally, it provides the possibility to get insights into the therapeutic antibody drug development process.

Qualifications:

• The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, protein chemistry, structural biology or a related discipline.
• A strong track record as evidenced by first-author publications and a passion to solve scientific problems by creative approaches is a prerequisite.
• Practical experience with antibody engineering, biochemistry, structural modeling, cell culture, or display technologies are a plus, but not a requirement for success.
• Desire to independently design, execute, and interpret experiments in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment are essential.
• Excellent communication skills and the presentation of data in intra-/inter-departmental meetings are expected.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $64,800 and $120,300.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
